Computation was a word I was not familiar with before I started my first week at ITP. After my class, I came to the understanding that it is simply not just the skill of ‘creating computer applications’, but also understanding its conceptual limitations. While computing helps me achieve a certain outcome, it also may lead to another version of the outcome which may not be planned, an example being my first p5js avatar.
When thinking of computing as a tool, I am not merely reaching my end goal, but I am also developing my ideas as I am coding. Due to my history in helping solve community design problems, I do look at computing as a way to expose myself to ideas I have not thought of, or ideas that I thought would be tedious or impossible to achieve.
While going over the ICM Inspiration Wiki page, I was surely intrigued by the Augmented Reality Sandbox project. I do believe it was built to help architects, designers, planners or other related professionals to visualize something that could not be achieved unless they had a tool like such.
