Pitfalls of Liberalism: The Revolution will be digitized ( Week 1)
The Pitfalls of liberalism is a read that cover the dysfunctional
role of a liberalist in the society using various real-life examples. The were
violence remains legalized/ not legalized interested me due to the relativity
of legalization from different points of view and political contexts. A lot of
the times you are given situations to wonder whether certain actions are legitimate
to your mind whereas they are legalized to perform. This makes me wonder if any
actions are morally and ethically wrong if put in a situation where they are
legal. Who is to say what legal and illegal if they illegal becomes legal and
legal becomes illegal in certain exceptions.
Kwame Ture talks about how liberals would want
to bring about change, which will not in any way endanger his/her position. I
do agree with this statement. While liberals do intend to bring about the
growing change within society, and they might do it so even, it would only
happen not at the cost of their status quo or the benefits they enjoy from the ‘influence’
they hold in the society. Which comes to the debate of exploiting
other people’s position and power to achieve the equality that non-liberals are
aiming for.
