BioDesign: Blog Post 1
On reading the texts for this week, I do find myself interested in designing food for space. Having no background in biodesign, biology, chemistry or even food science, I feel like designing food for space does not only require knowledge for the sufficient nutrients and proper photosynthesizing ( for plant matter ) processes, but it also requires a technical understanding for the most effective and optimum way to carry out food in a zero-gravity environment.
I was also interested by the concept of the farms of space and the research that Bugbee was conducting to find ways to grow plantations in space and even Mars. I would like to further take interest in the concept of the space greenhouse gases, Veggies, where in astronauts can grow crops 250 miles above Earth.
Given from what I know, it would be nice to delve further into topics related to food for space and see what outcomes/ information can come from my research. I am looking to develop and design something that could contribute to the realm of space farm and food for space.
